Tomorrow, April 4, 2012, marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the passing of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the pioneering Tibetan Buddhist teacher and founder of this magazine. It’s a given that it isn’t easy to put feelings about such a figure — much less the loss of such a figure — into words. So it’s fitting that one of the lovelier tributes one could imagine is a video. The following video was made by Chögyam Trungpa’s son, Gesar Mukpo. Gesar, of course, is an accomplished filmmaker — click here to watch the trailer for his documentary, Tulku.
At the Shambhala Sun, we’re acknowledging the anniversary of Chögyam Trungpa’s passing by publishing a previously unpublished teaching in each of our issues for a year. The first teaching was called “A Meditation Instruction ” and can be read here. The second, about the teacher-student relationship, you’ll find in our current, May 2012 magazine. And for more, you can always browse our special Chögyam Trungpa Spotlight page, which includes many teachings by Rinpoche, as well as Barry Boyce’s definitive retrospective, Ocean of Dharma.
Please feel free to leave your own tribute Chögyam Trungpa in the Comments section here.
