It’s the third time the famous Buddhist leader has appeared on the cover of the magazine.
The Dalai Lama is on the cover of the March 18, 2019, issue of Time magazine. It is the third time he has appeared on the cover of the magazine, having done so previously in 1959 and 2008. A feature article in the magazine profiles the Dalai Lama, his relationship to the government of China, his role in Tibet’s struggle for autonomy, and the controversy around his successor. In the profile, he says President Trump’s foreign and border policies make him “uncomfortable.”
