Forty-five years after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., the team behind Peace is the Way Films and Peace Comics is trying to fulfill one of King’s dreams: for his friend Thich Nhat Hanh to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. They’re encouraging people to spread the word about the campaign so Thay can be nominated — read more about the campaign here.
“Thich Nhat Hanh lived through three different military occupations, yet never strayed from the nonviolent path. For over 70 years, his life has been one of compassionate and nonviolent words, deeds, action and leadership,” the prewritten nomination letter explains.
The full letter is available online here. Qualified nominators can sign the letter and mail it to the Nobel Peace Prize committee in Norway by February 3. (The letter includes a list of people qualified to nominate a person for the prize; eligible nominators include members of national governments; university professors in social sciences, history, philosophy, law, and theology; directors of peace research institutes and more.)
