The Contemplative Alliance and Shinnyo-en will host “Joining the Sacred and the Secular” this Friday, a dialogue with young practitioners and leading contemplative teachers to understand the spiritual quest of young people. Our own Sam Littlefair will be in attendance.
“I’m excited to see what people form all sorts of contemplative traditions are thinking about how spirituality is changing in the modern world,” Sam says. “These are important questions that everyone is asking.”
The conference seeks to explore question such as, “What is driving you people away from mainstream religion?” and “How can a meditation practice ground us in a time of global transition?”
Speakers will include Lion’s Roar contributors Greg Snyder, Lama Rod Owens, and Jessica Morey. It will run from 10:00am to 4:30pm on Friday, September 16 in Manhattan. For more information, visit gpiw.org.
Can you help us at a critical time?
COVID-19 has brought tremendous suffering, uncertainty, fear, and strain to the world.
Our sincere wish is that these Buddhist teachings, guided practices, and stories can be a balm in these difficult times. Over the past month, over 400,000 readers like you have visited our site, reading almost a million pages and streaming over 120,000 hours of video teachings. We want to provide even more Buddhist wisdom but our resources are strained. Can you help us?
No one is free from the pandemic’s impact, including Lion’s Roar. We rely significantly on advertising and newsstand sales to support our work — both of which have dropped precipitously this year. Can you lend your support to Lion’s Roar at this critical time?
