On Saturday, more than 200 Tibetans took part in peaceful protests at the main entrance to Serthar County in Karze, Tibet, calling for the return of the Dalai Lama and a free Tibet. Protests coincided with the 62nd founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China this October 1. Demonstrations ignited when a photo of the Dalai Lama and a large Tibetan flag were removed from atop a four-story building and thrown in the street. Hundreds of Tibetans amassed in slogans “for the long life of the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.”
