The other day we told you about the open letter, co-created by Ethan Nichtern and Michael Stone, created in support of the Occupy movement and intended to be shared with and signed by Buddhist and yoga teachers and leaders. Nichtern and Stone report that their letter received 200 signature from said signatures and leaders — in just one day. So what’s next?
What’s next is Occupy Samsara, a website that seeks to “create a powerful network of mind/body teachers who want to bring their wisdom and practices to the benefit of this powerful historical moment” and beyond. The site will host interactions, writings, and videos — like the one that follows, in which Stone discusses the impact that real-world, eye-level engagement and true, deep listening can have, on the societal and personal levels alike.
The Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on already for several weeks. The movement is now filled with violence and riots. Many participants were already hurt and some are still even at the hospitals for their injuries. Buddhist and yoga practitioners will contribute a big thing for they are known to peaceful people and have a lot of knowledge to share that to everybody.
