A new online mindfulness teacher training program exclusively for Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) has launched and is accepting applications for their first cohort. “Freedom Together” is a year long, 200-hour training program for BlPOC. According to their website, Freedom Together’s mission is to “Provide BIPOC trainees with high-quality and transformative teacher training to become internationally certified mindfulness teachers who offer culturally appropriate programs within their field(s) of interest.”

The online program will start in September 2023 and consists of 3 topic themes: “Foundations of Mindfulness,” “Mindfulness of the Individual and Collective Body”, and “Mindfulness for These Times.” Over the course of 9 months, the 30 trainees will complete 200 hours of training, and two 5-day retreats. According to a press release, Freedom Together aims to provide “a unique space where BIPOC Mindfulness trainees can explore our experiences and practices in a way that centers our lives and without the need to filter ourselves, explain our experience, and educate others.”

Applications for the program are now open and will be assessed on a rolling basis. For more information on the program, visit freedom-together.org.
