Chua Duyen Giac, a Vietnamese Buddhist temple located at 97 Foss Avenue in San Jose, California, suffered a three-alarm fire — its second such incident since May — Monday morning.
While PBS station KQED calls the temple “all but destroyed” and “declared a total loss by fire officials,” the San Diego Fire Department reports that its firefighters had “successfully prevented damage to adjacent structures.”
Luckily, as local news outlet KRON and others report, “There were no occupants inside the temple at the time of the blaze” and no injuries have been reported, though four individuals who lived on the temple property have been displaced.
